STE Breaks Ground and Kicks Off Campaign

On Saturday, November 2, 2019, STE celebrated the kickoff of its $10 million capital campaign, and held an official groundbreaking for the new academic building and renovation of the sanctuary. Construction of the new campus is expected to begin in early 2020, with church renovations complete in four to six months and the new academic building complete in 14 months. All construction is expected to be complete in 2021.

Capital Campaign Chairs Kirsten Shaw Herrscher ’81 and Roger Herrscher stunned the audience of 400 STE church members, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff by announcing that $7 million had already been raised prior to the campaign kickoff.

Texas State Representative, The Honorable Gene Wu ’96 was the host for the evening. The program included special guests Hunter Todd, Anne Walters Robertson ’70 and Robby Robertson ’73, and The Right Reverend Hector Monterroso. Vestry and school board member Patsy Finch shared with the crowd how everyone can get involved in the campaign.

Of course the night would not have been complete without performances from our church and school choirs, school orchestra, pipe band, and Highland dancers. The celebration was capped off by a fun evening of dancing to music by the Spazmatics!
