Saint Thomas' Episcopal School

Theatre

The moment a student steps onto the stage of the Murray Center, they feel that magic which can only come from performing in live theatre. From the fall musical, to the spring play, to the talent show, to the senior showcase, each student is given opportunities to shine — onstage and off.

Students can earn membership in the International Thespian Troupe by working over 100 hours in service to the theatre, and they can also become part of the Scottish Players, a student-run drama club. Students also can learn to build and paint sets, as well as develop team-building skills, by attending weekend stage crew hours with our resident set designer, Dr. Bob.

Class offerings are Upper School Theatre, and Middle School, 4th, and 5th grade Oral Presentation. Students are challenged with advanced acting techniques, Shakespeare, devising theatre, and script writing. Classes also spend plenty of time playing improvisation games and contributing to the productions with set painting and lighting design.

Recent productions were the full-length musicals Oliver!Mary Poppins, and Annie, as well as the plays The Elephant ManNoises Off, and The Liar, a new adaptation of a 17th century play by Corneille.
