Student Counseling

The STE Counselor supports our students’ social, emotional and spiritual wellness and aims to help each student develop his or her God given potential.

Guidance and Counseling

In cooperation with parents and teachers, our counselor is available to assist our students individually or in groups with any social or emotional issues that may hinder students’ academic progress. In addition, our counselor helps students develop social and emotional competencies that are needed throughout life by providing classroom guidance lessons and character education. Our school’s Core Values are the foundation of these lessons.

Our school counselor abides by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Ethical Standards for School Counselors. In doing so, the counselor’s primary obligation for confidentiality is to the student. However, that is balanced with the understanding that families or guardians have legal and inherent rights to be the guiding voice in their children’s lives.

Our heads of school, nurse, teachers, or parents may refer a student to the counselor or request a student observation by our counselor. Students are also welcome to approach the counselor with concerns at any time. Each concern is addressed according to the needs of the particular student and family. At times the counselor may make referrals to external specialists or agencies in order to best serve the student’s needs. In these cases, the counselor can maintain contact with the referral source as needed.
