TAPPS Academic Team
St. Thomas' Episcopal is a member of Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS). In addition to athletics, TAPPS sponsors academic and arts competitions for member schools. STE high school students annually compete in and excel at both the academic and arts categories.
Participation
Upper school students of all grade levels are nominated by teachers for participation in the subject areas in which they shine. Members of the TAPPS academic team participate in up to two competitions each year. Those who finish in the top three places in an event advance to the state competition. Most of the competitions, which entail writing or taking a test, do not require advance preparation. However, performance events (e.g., such as solo acting) do necessitate competitors to prepare beforehand.
STE TAPPS Accomplishments
STE excels at both the district and state levels in TAPPS competitions. Our students have been particularly strong in advanced math, literary criticism, and science. For ten of the past eleven years a St. Thomas' student has won the science contest at both the state and district levels.
