Student Computing

STE has 113 computers, located in the library, four classroom/labs, and the yearbook room, available for student use. All classroom and library computers have the standard Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) installed. In addition, these computers have the Adobe Creative Suite 5 software for editing photographs and for desktop publishing.

Library Computers

The 24 library computers offer students supervised and filtered access to the Internet for research.

Computer Labs/Classrooms

Students in the middle school computer classes meet in the large computer lab, which boasts 30 PCs. A second, smaller lab is used by upper school students for computer classes as well as other subjects which employ computers as part of the curriculum. In addition, the 6th grade science lab has eight laptops available for computer-based activities specific to that class.

Language Lab

Our 20-computer language lab offers centralized, integrated audio which allows teachers to listen in while students practice their speaking skills using various software applications. The language lab also uses Logolab software which may be customized by the teacher for an individualized learning experience based on the level of the class.

Computers in Art

The art room dedicates two computers to the use of middle and and upper school art students. Art classes utilize these computers for research via mcasts, which allow students to take virtual tours of specific artists' work in participating museums around the world  (.e.g., National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.). Art students also use these computers to work on projects in InDesign and Photoshop.

Art classes utilize library and computer lab computers for lessons on how to use Photoshop.

Yearbook Computers

The yearbook room utilizes Apple computers loaded with Adobe’s Creative Suite for editing photographs and designing our award-winning yearbook.
