Instrumental Music

String Ensembles

STE values the musical arts and offers outstanding opportunities to students for classically-based music instruction. Throughout the year our string orchestras regularly perform at the school (e.g., Grandparents' Day, Christmas concerts, Spring Orchestra Concert, chapel performances, graduation, etc.) as well as community service concerts (e.g., at retirement homes, banks, luncheons).

7th-8th Orchestra

Students in the 7th and 8th grades with appropriate playing skills and music-reading facility may play with this orchestra. Participants play more advanced orchestral pieces and are exposed to classical orchestra literature as well as sacred, Celtic, and contemporary music. New students must audition to determine their level of playing.

Orchestra is an elective class which meets on alternate days and once a month has an after school rehearsal.

Our orchestra and individual string students participate in the Lutheran High North Junior High Solo & Ensemble Contest. STE students have received highest awards in the past, and all received "Superior" ratings in Spring 2010.

STE students have been selected for seats in the Junior High Honor Orchestra for TMEA Region 23 - one of the most competitive regions in the state.

High School Orchestra

High school students with appropriate playing skills and music-reading facility play in this orchestra. Participants play advanced and demanding classical orchestra literature as well as sacred, Celtic, and contemporary music. New students must audition to determine their level of playing.

Orchestra is an elective class which meets on alternate days and once a month has an after school rehearsal.

Our orchestra and individual string students participate in the TAPPS Region Solo & Ensemble Contest and TAPPS State Solo & Ensemble Contest. STE students received the highest possible rating of "Superior" at both competitions, earning special praise from the judges in 2010.

STE students have been selected for seats in the High School Honor Orchestra for TMEA Region 23 - one of the most competitive regions in the state. Our students have also been selected for the honorary weekend clinic and concert in the TPSMEA State Orchestra.

Private Lessons

Private music lessons in piano, voice, organ, violin, viola, cello and flute are offered at the school.  Rates are based on $25.00 for one half-hour lesson per week.  A very fine group of teachers has been engaged to provide this convenient service.  Parents who are interested in private lessons for themselves may also take advantage of this opportunity.
