Extracurricular Achievements

Henderson Cup

St. Thomas’ Episcopal won the TAPPS 3A Henderson Cup for the 2010-2011 school year. The Henderson Cup is awarded to the school which accumulates the most points in a single year from among 24 state-level competitions in sports, academics, art, and music. Our cross country, swimming, soccer, basketball, golf, and tennis teams joined with academics, vocal music, and instrumental music to contribute valuable points to the STE Henderson Cup total.

Mock Trial

The STE Mock Trial team has won the annual Southwest Regional competition for 13 of the past 15 years. Its achievements at the state and national levels are listed below.

  • 1st Place* - 2004 State Meet

  • 2nd Place - 2002 State Meet

  • 3rd Place - 2011 & 2006 State Meets

  • 4th Place - 2003 State Meet

  • 5th Place - 2005 State Meet

  • "Most professional team" - 2011, 2008, 2007 State Meets

  • 10th Place - 2004 National Meet (voted 1 of 4 "most professional" teams)

*Highest finish ever for a non-public school

Science Bowl

STE participates in the Regional Science Bowl held annually at Texas A&M University. The St. Thomas’ team, which is a known and respected competitor, has finished in the top four for three of the last four years... the only private school to finish make it to the final rounds. The competition format consists of two 8-minute halves with questions from the subjects of astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science, general science, math, and physics.
