Chapel Traditions

STE incorporates several traditions in addition to the liturgical aspects of our daily chapel.

Members of the senior class participate in the Chapel service doing the Old Testament and New Testament readings each day. Two seniors read from the Scriptures for an entire week. The following week a new pair of seniors takes over.

The prayer below is said each day for students, faculty, and staff members during Chapel on their birthdays.

Watch over thy children, __________, as their days increase; bless and guide them wherever they may be, keeping them unspotted form the world. Strengthen them when they stand; comfort them when discouraged or sorrowful; raise them up if they fall; and in their hearts may thy peace which passeth understanding abide all the days of their lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Students in all grades memorize a particular Bible verse which complements the lessons being taught that week. The student body recites that week's memory verse together during Chapel each Friday.

The Monday following the issuance of report cards, the Dean's List and Honor Roll is read in Chapel in order to recognize 4th through 12th grade students for their academic achievements. Students with a 3.5 marking period GPA are named to the Honor Roll, while students achieving a 4.0 or higher marking period GPA; included in the Dean's List.
