Duke Talent Identification Program

Seventh grade students are selected for this program by scoring in the 97th percentile in at least one of several tested areas on their sixth grade Stanford Achievement Test. Qualifying students may take SAT I.

Twenty-nine percent of the 2006-2007 7th graders qualified for Duke TIP.

Interact Club/Community Service Organization

Students are involved in many civic and church activities that benefit the community at large.

The high school's Interact Club participates in a variety of service projects each year, including the Port of Houston's Christmas Boxes for Sailors project, Project H20, Locks of Love, and food and clothing drives for the Star of Hope Mission.

Their fundraisers and efforts were focused on needs in the Houston area, but they also were instrumental in helping to bring a well for cleaning drinking water to the Concepcion Girls' School in Bolivia.

During the 2007-2008 school year, students participated in local pumpkin patches, beautification efforts, and one-day volunteer activities around the city.

In the 2008-2009 school year, students are working to raise awareness about safe water projects in sub-saharan African and other developing countries through fundraisers and activities like jerry can races

Students are also working to help families affected by Hurricane Ike through days of service and other fundraisers.
