More than that of any other language, the study of Greek forces the mind to think grammatically, that is, conceptually and logically. It is no accident that science and philosophy have their origins in Greek thought; neither is it an accident that God would choose the Greek language as the vehicle for the revelation of his own Word.

In the eighth grade, students may elect to take an introductory course in Classical Greek. Students passing this course with a grade of eighty or above receive one year of high school credit. In grades nine through twelve students may continue to take advanced levels of Greek.

Classes Offered

Greek I	Introduction to basic grammar. Athenaze, Book I and first 20 lessons of Chase.
Greek II	Completion of basic grammar. Athenaze, Book II and lessons 20-40 in Chase.
Greek III	Introduction to Greek prose authors: selections from Lysias, Xenophon, Plato, New Testament, and Herodotus as appropriate to reinforce morphology and syntax.
Greek IV	Introduction to Greek poetic authors: selections from iambic and lyraic poetry; easy tragedy such as Euripides' Alcestis or Cyclops; a book of the Iliad or Odyssey.
Greek V	Advanced Greek readings. Readings selected from a wide range of Greek writers to fit the needs of students.
Senior Greek	An intensive reading course for seniors, using exclusively original classical texts.
