The focus of computer science in the fifth grade is to learn keyboarding in preparation for use of Microsoft Office applications in the middle school computer science classes.
Students learn the QWERTY keyboard and touch typing. This
class places emphasis on developing proper technique while building speed.
We use the Herzog method which incorporates an alphabetical approach and "hub
key sensors" that provide tactile feedback to students as they learn
the keyboard.
