Your first step in the admissions process should be a tour of the school. Tours are held by appointment between 8 a.m and 4 p.m.

If you are interested in kindergarten, please click here or check the calendar for kindergarten observation* dates in October through December. Observation begins at 9:15 a.m. Call the office at 713-666-3111 to make an appointment.

*Observations are for parents only... no children please.

Kindergarten testing is done in late January. Click here for exact dates.

Application Timing
We accept applications for grades 1-12 starting one year prior to the school start date.  Bridge and kindergarten applications are accepted earlier than the one-year rule.  Siblings, legacies, and church members are given priority consideration as long as they submit applications prior to the legacy/sibling deadline in October.

Once students are tested the Headmaster will decide which students will be given offers based on availability.  When there are more qualified students than available spots, offers are made in order of application date

Testing
Kindergarteners are tested at the school with kindergarten teachers using a 30-minute assessment.

Students entering 1st-12th are tested at the school using an abbreviated Stanford Achievement Test. When applying, please enclose a copy of last year’s Stanford scores if your child has taken that test.

St. Thomas’ now accepts ISEE scores for candidates for 5th-12th.  Our ISEE test number is 443433.

Admission Requirements
(1) A satisfactory score on entrance examinations of aptitude and achievement
(2) Transcripts of the student’s academic record from all schools attended
(3) Two completed teacher reference forms for students applying for admission after kindergarten. Recommendations must be mailed directly from the teacher to the school (not delivered to the school by the parent)
(4) A satisfactory interview* with the student, accompanied by one of the student’s parents or guardians

The Headmaster of the school determines final acceptance.

*Note: After testing and receiving all the necessary paperwork, the school determines how well the student will fit the environment. At that time, the school sends a letter to the student to set up a headmaster interview.

St. Thomas’ Episcopal School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national or ethnic origin.

Recommended/Required Summer Classes
Students entering St. Thomas’ may find that they have not acquired the same level of exposure to certain subjects as continuing students.

St. Thomas’ offers short summer courses in many subject areas designed to boost the level of knowledge for new students. For example:
